Cathey Polly
Cathey Polly received her Master's Degree in Math Education (M.Ed.) from the University of Central Florida in 1985. She taught at both Valencia Community College (from 1986) and Durrance Elementary (from 1982) in Orlando until 2005 when she moved to Charlottesville, Virgina. Cathey is not only comfortable as a math educator, she thrives on being one! Even before receiving her college degree, Cathey sought out the educational environment. She was certified as a Montessori Directress in 1972 through the American Montessori Institute, and has taught various community courses in both Alabama and Florida, including at the Orlando Science Center (1982-1987). She recently became certified as a Socrates Facilitator and will begin teaching online math classes through the Education Manangement Corporation for Online Higher Learning in November of 2006. She has, with her gentle encouragement and loving instruction, helped many dozens of private students grow to feel confident and empowered by their new understanding of, and relationship with, math.
